How Much Does Dental Marketing Cost? What You Pay For and How to Judge a Quote

"How much does dental marketing cost?" sounds like a simple question, but most quotes mix four very different things together: money that goes to Facebook or Google, the fee for whoever runs the ads, one-time setup work, and content. Separate them and comparing offers becomes easy and fair.

The four parts of any marketing cost

  1. Ad budget: what you pay the platform itself, such as Meta or Google. Ideally it is charged to the clinic's own card so you see every pound or dollar spent.
  2. Management fee: what you pay the person who plans, writes, monitors and reports on the campaigns each month.
  3. One-time setup: WhatsApp Business, your Google Business Profile, the clinic website. Paid once, useful for years.
  4. Content: photos, video, design and post writing, done in-house or with outside help.

Always ask for each part on its own line. A single number "including ads" never tells you how much actually reaches the ads and how much is fees.

Common pricing models and which suits a clinic

  • Fixed monthly retainer: a known fee for a written scope. The clearest option when the scope is precise.
  • Percentage of ad spend: fees rise as spend rises, which can reward spending more rather than performing better.
  • Price per lead: sounds fair, but check what counts as a lead. Any message, or a real person who wants an appointment?
  • Fixed project price: best for setup work like a website, Google profile or WhatsApp, where the result and timeline are defined.

I can't speak for anyone else's prices, but here are my published service prices in Egyptian pounds, so you can see what a quote with separated lines looks like:

Service Price Type
Clinic Marketing Audit 1,500 EGP One-time
WhatsApp Booking Setup 4,500 EGP One-time
Google Profile & Reviews Setup 5,500 EGP One-time
Clinic Website Launch 18,000 EGP One-time
Facebook Leads From 9,450 EGP / month Monthly, ad budget separate
Clinic Growth Partner 17,500 EGP / month Monthly, ad budget separate

How to judge whether a quote is worth it

Don't compare prices only with each other. Compare them with what a patient is worth to your clinic:

  1. Estimate what an average new patient spends with you over their relationship with the clinic.
  2. Set the most you are willing to pay to win that patient. The framework I use suggests 8 to 12% of that value, adjusted for your margins.
  3. Divide the full monthly cost (ads plus fees) by the number of new patients who actually showed up.

If your cost per new patient sits within your limit, the offer is profitable, however high the price looks. The Ad Cost per Patient Calculator helps you estimate this before you start.

Red flags in any offer

  • A guaranteed number of patients. Nobody can guarantee that.
  • An ad account in the agency's name that the clinic can't access.
  • Reports that show only likes and impressions, with no messages or bookings.
  • A long contract you can't leave before seeing any result.
  • Bought followers or reviews. They damage your reputation and break platform rules.

Frequently asked questions

Can I market my clinic without an ad budget?

To a large extent, yes. A complete Google profile with real reviews, fast WhatsApp replies, appointment reminders and a referral habit all bring patients without ad spend. Ads multiply results once these basics are in place.

Should I pay the ad budget myself or through the agency?

Pay it from the clinic's card on an ad account the clinic owns. You see real spend and keep the account and its data if you change who manages it.

Where should I start on a small budget?

Start with what stops you losing the patients who already reach you: replies, reminders and your Google profile. Then build your plan with the 90-Day Marketing Plan Generator.
